Our Countryfile Debut

On Sunday 9th September, Peter and Andrew Fairs took to our screens in their debut performance on Countryfile. They were visited by John Craven back in August, who interviewed them both on their alternative crops, from Quinoa and Borage, through to the most recent addition, Chia seeds.

In case you haven't heard, last month Hodmedods became the BBC food and farming award winners for Best Producer. We were delighted to join the team at the ceremony where they were presented with the award by Sheila Dillon and Giorgio Locatelli.
Breaking News - We've finished harvesting our first ever commerical crop of UK grown Chia Seed. Over a 5 year development process, we have successfully managed to grow the first crop of chia in the UK at a commercial scale. Normally regarded as a southern hemisphere growing plant due to the long day lengths required for the seed to ripen, we have hand selected our variety which will soon be available for the UK food market. We are continuing to develop our variety in the hope of reducing the UK's demand on imported products.
